A Volkswagen ID.3 convertible, April 1 in advance?
Anticipating the sunny days, the CEO of Volkswagen unveils designs of a discoverable ID.3.
This March 1 marks the beginning of the meteorological spring. This is undoubtedly what motivated the subject of the last message of the CEO of the Volkswagen group on Twitter.
In his tweet, Herbert Diess communicates 2 images of a new car. The boss specifies that he is “Open to an electric convertible car, possibly an ID.3 convertible”. If the vehicle for the moment comes down to simple sketches, the CEO of the brand Ralf Brandstätter confirms that the intention is serious. Rather successful, the drawing shows the electric compact with a 3-door body and a 2 + 2-seater format.
quiet, smooth, open: We’re thinking about an e-convertible, maybe an # VWID3 convertible. What do you think? pic.twitter.com/cfLHu3OGa9

What do you think of this Volkswagen ID.3 Cabriolet?
When will we see a real new electric convertible?
Officially, only the Tesla Roadster and the Bolloré Bluesummer / Citroën E-Méhari duo can boast of being real electric convertibles. Their sales, however, were anecdotal. At the same time, the Smart Fortwo and Fiat 500 cannot receive this attribute, with their sliding soft roof.
But other brands have already worked on concept cars. In 2017, Skoda unveiled a unique electric Citigo convertible “Element”, followed by a Nissan Leaf convertible. More serious, the Maybach 6 and Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e combined luxury, calm and pleasure.
Some have tried to convert Tesla. The American specialist NCE had operated on a Model S in 2014, then a Model 3 Cabriolet in 2020, without grace. Finally, we can hope that the virtual Renault R5 electric from X-Tomi Design gives a possible rival to the ID3!
