ADAC GT Masters: Vettel back in GT racing

It’s getting serious in the title fight of the German GT Championship, which will be held for the first time this year in the ADAC GT Masters. The penultimate race weekend of the season with races eleven and twelve is on the program this weekend on the Baden Grand Prix circuit in Hockenheim.
A prominent guest starter appears in the supporting program. Fabian Vettel, younger brother of the four-time Formula 1 champion, makes his debut in the ADAC GT4. Vettel starts alongside Tim Heinemann in a Porsche 718 Cayman. It is equipped with a space drive system, so there is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the steering gear.
For Vettel it is a return to the ADAC GT Masters platform. As early as 2019, he competed in the super sports car league in a Mercedes-AMG GT3. “I’m really looking forward to it. In time for the theatrical release of the new James Bond film, Aston Martin, the preferred car brand of Her Majesty’s famous secret agent, is making its comeback in the ADAC GT Masters in Hockenheim. The Prosport Racing team from the Eifel is using an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 (4l V8 biturbo, approx. 500 hp) and thus ensures even more flavor and brand diversity in the field of around 30 super sports cars.

The Aston Martin is controlled by two youngsters: Tim Heinemann (23 / Fichtenberg) and Salman Owega (16 / Cologne) take turns in the cockpit of the Vantage GT3. Both start in the German GT Championship for the first time. Aston Martin last competed in the ADAC GT Masters in 2019.

It is part of the tradition in the ADAC GT Masters season’s final spurt that the tension in the crucial phase of the season increases. The championship leaders Ricardo Feller and Christopher Mies in the Audi R8 LMS of the Land-Motorsport team are currently just two points ahead of Maro Engel / Luca Stolz in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo from Toksport WRT.

“The track suits the Audi. The R8s have always been very good at Hockenheim in the past. We want to collect solid points and preserve our chances for the title, ”said the Swiss Feller, formulating the Audi team’s goal.

Fans can watch the races in the grandstands and in the open paddock. The races will be broadcast live on NITRO on free TV on Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. (start 4.30 p.m.). They can be seen in the live stream for free at TVNOW.de and at adac.de/motorsport.

Engstler wants the TCR title

Nevertheless, with top results and simultaneous mistakes by the competition, the 21-year-old from Allgäu in his Hyundai i30 N TCR could prematurely crown himself champion in Hockenheim. He has to take a 71-point lead into the season finale (November 5-7, Nürburgring). “The goal is very clear to decide the championship in Hockenheim”, announced Engstler.

Final in the fastest brands cup in Germany: Larry ten Voorde is the clear favorite in the fight for the title. Before the last two races of the season, the Dutchman, who has already taken seven wins this year, is 24 points ahead of Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven in the overall standings.

With the title, the reigning Champion ten Voorde could crown a successful year. He also recently successfully defended his title in the Formula 1 Porsche Supercup.

Güven, who kept his chances of overall victory alive with three successes in the last five races, not only has to get two top results, but also has to hope for a slip of the cup dominator.
