‘AH branches glued shut in protest against the construction of a distribution center’

In an anonymous message, AH Must Go would have claimed the action, the newspaper writes. The group is said to have glued the shops shut in protest against the construction of a distribution center in the Lutkemeerpolder.

The police say they are not aware of this letter. Climate activists have already protested against the possible arrival of a distribution center in the area, west of Amsterdam.

Albert Heijn stores normally open at 8 a.m. But employees of the branches were surprised this morning when they suddenly couldn’t open the doors of their store. The locks and shutters turned out to be glued shut.

“Some could be opened quite quickly, others took a little longer,” a spokesperson for Albert Heijn said this morning. “Employees had to wait a maximum of two hours.”
