Aldi: Inexpensive notebook for the home office and everyday life

). The notebook is primarily intended for working in the home office and on the go, as the manufacturer Medion explains.
Display, CPU, memory
The Medion Akoya E15412 with its 15.6-inch (39.6 cm) Full HD IPS screen (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) is powered by an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor. The graphics chip is integrated into the CPU: This is Intel Iris Xe graphics. A 512 GB PCIe SSD is used as storage space, and the main memory is a respectable 16 GB (DDR4).
Online conferencing and privacy protection
An HD webcam, microphone and two loudspeakers are installed for video conferences and video telephony as well as for chatting. With the privacy mode switch, you can completely disconnect the webcam and microphone from the laptop’s power circuit if necessary.

The aluminum housing gives the notebook a classy look. With a weight of 1.78 kilograms, the 35.9 x 1.99 x 24 cm notebook should be easy to carry. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is up to eight hours. That’s almost enough for a working day. The backlit keyboard allows you to work even in the dark.
software
Windows 11 Home is used as the operating system. Microsoft 365 and McAfee LiveSafe come preinstalled with a 30-day trial. Three months of free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is also included in the price (an odd extra for a home office laptop). After that, you have to renew the subscription for a fee if you want to continue using it.
