Aldi: Medion Erazer Crawler E30 (MD64075) for 1149 euros – thumbs up or down?

From June 30, Aldi will be offering the Medion Erazer Crawler E30 (MD64075), a sensibly configured gaming laptop with RTX 3050 Ti for 1,149 euros. But the gaming notebook is also worth the money – we compare the supposed Aldi bargain with offers from brand manufacturers.

On June 30, 2022 from 7:00 a.m., Aldi will be offering gaming PCs as well as a gaming notebook. For 1149 euros you get the joint online shop of Aldi Nord & Süd

Medion Erazer Core Gaming Notebook Crawler E30 (MD64075)

with RTX 3050 Ti and Intel Core i5-12450H. We check whether this is a good offer and name alternatives.

Medion Erazer Crawler E30 (MD64075): specifications and assessment

  • 15.6-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels and 144 Hz

  • Intel Core i5-12450H (2 to 4.4 GHz, 8 cores / 12 threads, 12 MB smart cache)

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4 GB GDDR6 video memory (up to 1,485 MHz, 75 watts TGP)

  • 16GB DDR4 RAM (up to 3200MHz)

  • 1TB PCIe SSD

  • 2 speakers with Sound Blaster Cinema 6+

  • Backlit keyboard with 15 adjustable colors

  • WiFi 6E & Bluetooth 5.0

  • 4-cell Li-Polymer battery with 54 Wh (4 hours of battery life)

  • Windows 11 Home preinstalled

  • W x H x D: approx. 35.9 x 2.9 x 24.2 cm, approx. 2.03 kg

Medion relies on the Intel Core i5-12450H as the CPU, which is completely sufficient for gaming in 1080p. The processor is supported by 16 GB DDR4 RAM with 3200 MHz – also more than enough main memory for Full HD gaming.

Unfortunately, this does not apply to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics card with 4 GB of video memory, whose total graphics power (TGP) is up to 75 watts. You should be able to play many games with high graphics settings in Full HD without any problems. However, performance-hungry titles that require at least 6 GB of video memory are an exception: You then have to turn down the quality here. Ray tracing can usually not be activated either, since the function affects the refresh rate too much.

Available from Aldi until June 26th:

Erazer Defender P15 for 1299 euros and Beast X25 for 2499 euros

The 15.6-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 144 Hz. Your data can be stored on a 1 TB PCIe SSD – next to the pre-installed Windows 11 in the home version. The device is still okay with a weight of around 2 kilograms. Medion specifies the battery life as 4 hours of video playback – when gaming, you have to refuel faster at the socket.

All in all, the Medion Erazer Crawler E30 (MD64075) is configured in a balanced way – but far too expensive!

Alternative:

Laptops with an RTX 3060 are fully suitable for Full HD gaming – including ray tracing – thanks to 6 GB of video memory. For example, you get this

Gigabyte G5 KC-5DE1130SD

with RTX 3060 for

only 849 euros

– but with an SSD that is only half the size (512 GB) and without Windows. Nevertheless, the gigabyte model is the much better choice. It’s only 150 euros more expensive, but much more powerful than the Aldi notebook

MSI Katana GF76 11UG-090

for

only 1299 euros

with RTX 3070, i7-11800H, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.
