Due to a goal deep in extra time, Anderlecht have a point left over from the home game with Antwerp. Both teams did not get along much in the play-offs for the Belgian national title, but Antwerp in particular will feel the loser of the evening. After two goals had already been disallowed, Dieumerci Mbokani seemed to have helped his team to the win via a utilized penalty kick. In the 96th minute, Anderlecht defender Matt Miazga equalized.
Mbokani scored no less than four goals, only two could count on approval from the VAR. First, the attacker had put his team ahead shortly after the break. Within ten minutes it was level again via Yari Verschaeren. Mbokani made two more, both times, according to the VAR, there was already talk of offside long before the striker had hit the goal.
In the 84th minute, Mbokani seemed to be crowned match winner after using a penalty kick. But the home team, with the Dutchman Bart Verbruggen in the goal, saved another run.
Club Brugge, which lost 3-0 to Racing Genk on Friday, leads with 39 points. Genk is second with 34 points. Antwerp and Anderlecht follow with 31.
