The roll-out of the corona vaccination is being implemented as planned, Health Minister Rudolf announced Starter (Greens) on Saturday for the floor: By Sunday evening around 30,000 vaccinations would be carried out, on Monday 34,535 doses for rapid vaccination would be delivered. In total, orders have already been placed for the delivery of 106,680 cans to retirement and nursing homes from Monday – and the number is increasing every hour.
Starter: “The largest vaccination campaign in Austria needs good preparation and professional implementation. Therefore, the pilot phase has proven itself and has shown that the logistical system works, the preparations in the old people’s and nursing homes are well established and the vaccine is well tolerated A second vaccination tranche will be brought forward in the second half of the week. And now the ordering system via the e-shop and the distribution system are in full swing. “
It is noticeable that the mood in the population is starting to turn for each vaccination. “We want to reach the large majority who have not yet made a definitive decision for or against the vaccination. And here something is clearly beginning to move in the right direction,” said the head of department
The EU’s additional contract with Biontech / Pfizer means a significant increase in the number of vaccines available. Austria will thus have a total of 5.8 million doses of the corona vaccination available from Biontech / Pfizer for the first half of the year, with which 2.9 million people can be vaccinated. “Then there are the vaccines from Moderna and, after approval, which is targeted for February, those from AstraZeneca.” But also other vaccines for which the EU treaties have made great strides on the way to approval. “My goal is that we have vaccinated everyone in Austria who want this by summer,” said Starter
