Sony announced today that the Apple TV app will also reach select smart TVs from the company starting today. This means that you can also use the streaming offer from Apple TV +.
Apple TV + is Apple’s streaming offer that recently even extended its free trial period. However, not only this service can be accessed via the Apple TV app. Access to the Apple TV channels can also take place in this way. You can also get curated recommendations through the application.
Which TVs now receive the app? Excitingly, Sony is again naming the XH90 series, for which the update to 4K with 120 Hz has just been confirmed. Apparently, the Japanese are particularly fond of this model series. This is a bit of a surprise because these are actually mid-range TVs.
The Apple TV app bundles several options for watching TV programs and films. On the one hand, it enables access to Apple TV +, Apple’s video subscription service, which offers original shows, films and documentaries. These include “The Morning Show”, “See” and of course “Greyhound”. Users can search, buy or rent more than 100,000 films and TV shows in the Apple TV app. This also includes titles that are available in 4K HDR and with Dolby Atmos.
Apple is becoming more and more important as a brand in the TV segment
Certain Sony TVs also support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. You can see that Apple is making its way into home theater in several ways. The Apple TV + streaming offer for 4.99 euros a month is just one of many ways. However, the Apple TV app will also be available on select Sony 2018 TVs and most Sony 2019 and 2020 models by the end of the year.
Sony is not releasing more specific models, so we are excited to see which TVs will actually be included.
