Atlético Madrid has won the home game against Valencia 3-1. The leader of La Liga has reduced the margin with competitors Real Madrid and FC Barcelona to 7 and 10 points respectively. Real won 4-1 against Deportivo Alavés earlier on Saturday and Barcelona won 2-0 at Elche.
Valencia, which is going through a difficult season and still misses goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen through an injury, took the lead in the 11th minute at Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid via Uros Racic. João Félix equalized from a corner in the first half.
In the second half, Portuguese teammate Luis Suárez was able to make it 2-1. The Uruguayan shot his twelfth league goal on his 34th birthday, making him the top scorer in La Liga together with Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla. The replacement of Félix, Ángel Correa, made the third goal for the team of coach Diego Simeone on a pass from Marcos Llorente.
