Audi e-Tron improves charging performance

While waiting for the restyling, the Audi e-Tron evolves in small steps. It now gains a new steering wheel and a faster on-board charger.

The Audi e-Tron will have to go through the restyling box in the coming years. While waiting for this traditional stage in the career of a car, the electric SUV offers itself a small cosmetic and technical upgrade.

The Audi e-Tron’s dress remains unchanged. On the other hand, the e-Tron S and e-Tron S Sportback can now be placed on 22-inch rims, which allow the fitting of 285/35 R22 tires. In the French catalog, they are displayed at a price of 3,100 €. The electric SUV includes in all its versions a new steering wheel with more sensitive hand sensors.

A full charge in less than five hours

The most important development is hidden behind the body and concerns the on-board charger. Then available with an 11 kW AC charging device, the Audi e-Tron can receive a second unit of the same power to boost to 22 kW. For the moment available on the 55 versions, the equipment will be offered very quickly on the 50 and S versions. The Mode3 cable which can accept this power is delivered as standard.

Audi also offers the e-Tron Connect charging system, designed to support a power of 22 kW. Charging and settings can be controlled from the touchscreen or remotely via the myAudi app. According to the manufacturer, the 95 kWh battery can be fully recharged in just under five hours.
