Automatically apply Excel formulas to the entire column

One often uses formulas in Excel for an entire column, for example to multiply previous values or to do other calculations. But how can a formula that you enter in a single cell be applied to the rest of the column? We’ll show you the solution and reveal one

Apply Excel formulas to the entire column
If you want to apply the same formula to an entire column of numbers, do the following:

Mark the field to the right of the top numerical value and select the desired formula.

To apply the formula to all other lines as well, pull the box at the bottom right of the marking (the fill box) down until you have reached the bottom line. Excel then automatically fills the empty cells.
It’s even faster with this trick
If the columns are very long, pulling boxes by hand can be cumbersome and require a lot of scrolling.
Here comes the insider tip
: Enter the formula as described and then double-click the fill-out box – it must be a
black cross
appear to make it work. Excel then automatically adopts the formula for all cells with a numerical value in the neighboring cell on the left.

Double-clicking on the fill-out box copies the formula in C2 into the cells of column C. The fill-out box is the corner of the cell marked in red here.
