The team of coach Hansi Flick won the visit to the rival with 1-0 and now (with six rounds to go) has a seven-point lead over Die Borussen. A margin that Bayern normally no longer gives up in the remainder of the competition.
Kimmich match winner
Joshua Kimmich became the match winner shortly before half time, by scoring with a viewed marker ball. Borussia goalkeeper Roman Bürki, who also made regular mistakes in the past, seemed to have had the ball, but got no further than some scribbling. Bürki ended up in the net with everything.
After twenty minutes Bayern could have opened the score via Serge Gnabry, but an attentive Lukasz Piszczek worked the ball out of the goal mouth. After halftime Erling Braut Haaland was close to equalizing, but his shot was touched by Jerome Boateng and the ball went wide. Despite the fact that Boateng got the ball on his arm, the ball did not hit the spot.
Borussia tried in the final phase, but did not really come close to the 1-1. In fact, with a ball on Robert Lewandowski’s post, Bayern was closer to a second goal than Borussia to the equalizer.
