Leipzig was lagging behind early on. Within ten minutes it was Marco Reus who opened the score on a pass from Thorgan Hazard. Jadon Sancho doubled the score after the break. Six-pack for Bayern

Shortly afterwards Bayern Munich celebrated the ninth national title in a row with a big home win over Borussia Mönchengladbach (6-0). Robert Lewandowski scored three times and now leads the Bundesliga top scorers list with 39 hits.

The Polish striker is only one goal away from a record set by Gerd Müller, who scored no fewer than 40 league goals in the 1970/1971 season. Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané also hit goal for Bayern Munich, which ended with ten men after a red card from Tanguy Kouassi in the 75th minute.

The Bavarian club was not as successful as last season when it won just about everything it could win. Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last month and Bayern was surprised in the national cup tournament by Holstein Kiel, who played in the second Bundesliga.

Trainer Hansi Flick says goodbye to Bayern Munich at the end of the competition. He is in the picture as the successor to German national coach Joachim Löw. Julian Nagelsmann, currently coach of Leipzig, will start next season with the 31-time champion from Bavaria.

Wolfsburg also wins

Without goals from Wout Weghorst, VfL Wolfsburg has won against Union Berlin without any problems. It became 3-0 by a hat-trick from Josip Brekalo. As a result, the team is still in third place.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar lost with the already relegated Schalke 04 to TSG Hoffenheim 4-2. This despite the fact that it still had a 0-2 lead at half time. Bayer Leverkusen (with Daley Sinkgraven in the starting line-up) played 0-0 against Werder Bremen.
