Load master: With 611 to 1642 liters, the Golf packs the most, its payload is the highest, the loading sill is the lowest.
The Golf has the greatest transport talent
The downside of the coin: Getting in and out is a bit more difficult than in Benz and BMW, in the VW you just have to bend down. The trunk with its 611 to 1642 liters swallows by far the most luggage, the payload is the highest at 508 kilograms, the loading sill at 62 centimeters the lowest. With 470 to 1455 liters, the luggage compartment in the BMW holds one or the other travel bag less, but the payload of 493 kilograms almost reaches the VW level.

High seat: Perched a little above the traffic is the SUV argument for many. The GLA offers the most in this comparison.
You sit highest in the GLA
The Benz is generously cut at the front and rear, and you sit four centimeters higher at the front than in the BMW, so a total of 12.5 centimeters further away from the road than in the VW. A lot of people like that feeling of grandeur. However, only 425 to 1420 liters fit into the cargo space, and the payload is also more modest at 432 kilograms.

Van with weaknesses: BMW does without the iDrive controller in the Active Tourer, the displays in the cockpit are overloaded.

VW has now (slightly) improved the heavily criticized multimedia system in the Golf, the 10-inch touchscreen now reacts a little faster. The convoluted menus remain, however, as do the jittery sliders for temperature and volume. And the voice control is neither as smart nor as fast as that in Benz or BMW. All information about engines, driving characteristics and prices as well as the final result of the comparison can be found in the picture gallery.
