Leak: Bigger kidneys and narrower headlights for the compact van
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been leaked! The picture that appeared on cochespias’ Instagram page appears to be a promotional photo and reveals a lot about the new edition of the compact van. Overall, the new Active Tourer appears to be getting a more compact shape, with the bonnet sloping less sharply. That gives it a sportier appearance. And the assumptions are confirmed: the car has significantly larger kidneys and narrower headlights. The leak shows larger side air inlets, which are accentuated with a silver-colored clip. Because the picture is provided with consumption information, it also delivers immediately first information about the enginest. A pure gasoline engine as a 223i and a plug-in hybrid 230e with all-wheel drive are listed. Unfortunately, due to the poor image quality, it is not easy to see the electric range.
Interior: Probably no longer a seven-seater
Due to the low demand, the Active Tourer version with seven seats is likely to be omitted. A slightly longer wheelbase, thanks to the UKL2 platform on which the 1 Series also stands, could provide more space in the interior. The first Erlkönig pictures suggest that it is in the cockpit there will be two displays merging to form a widescreen, similar to the BMW i4. Of course equipped with the latest iDrive infotainment including gesture control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa integration. The wizards of the next Active Tourer should also be expanded: Lane departure warning, rear collision warning and independent parking are considered set.
Engines and price: Probably again with three and four cylinders
For the drives, you could rely on turbo engines, a 1.5-liter three-cylinder and a two-liter four-cylinder. These include a 140 hp gasoline engine with three cylinders and a 190 hp four-cylinder diesel. A plug-in hybrid is practically a must. In terms of price, the new generation should remain at a similar level to its predecessor. The 2 Series Active Tourer currently starts at 28,500 euros (as of October 2021).
