BMW 3 Series used: The wear on the test car is marginal

And even in the crackle-free interior, the visible wear is marginal. However, the on-board computer reports that a service is due and – probably caused by a weak on-board battery – a drive error that is fortunately not noticeable.

How is our 320d? The times when a three was a better 2+2 seater with mixed suspension comfort are long history. The 4.71 meter long G20 is like a compact fiver.

Our test car, a BMW 320d Sport Line from 2019, has over 85,000 kilometers on the clock and is now available from dealers for almost 30,000 euros.

Even its standard chassis without adaptive damper control masters the perfect balancing act between dynamics and comfort. In the front and in the rear, even 1.90 meter tall passengers can stand it well. And in our case, you can even look forward to your own air conditioning control in the rear.

Danger! Other high-tech delicacies such as the attractive innovation package with LED laser light and adaptive cornering light, head-up display, comfort access and extensive driver assistance package used to cost several thousand euros extra and were by no means always ordered at the same time due to limited company car budgets and high vehicle list prices.

The G20 facelift is about to start

Massive semiconductor bottlenecks also hit bmw: In autumn 2021, the Munich-based company announced that it would only be able to deliver individual G20 vehicle batches with screens and iDrive controllers without touch functions and without CarPlay support. It also got stuck with gimmicks like the automatic tailgate. The G20 Facelift (bmw-Jargon: LCI version) is currently being launched. Its revised cockpit with curved display and bmw-OS 8 software.

Full LED headlights and more extensive standard equipment with folding exterior mirrors, three-zone climate control and parking assistance theoretically speak for the update. bmw however, raised the base price for the 320d with automatic transmission to 52,200 euros. A weighty argument to take a closer look at a young used car.
