BMW 525i (E34): this BMW passed the H license plate test

BMW has figured that out with the tuning of the engine, transmission and chassis. Enjoy driving. If there is still a straight six-cylinder working under the hood, then the dynamic driver is perfectly lucky. The proverbial icing on the cake, however, is the stylish limousine clothing that BMW has always had tailored for the 3, 5 and 7 series.
A particularly successful BMW in this sense is considered by connoisseurs to be the 5 Series E34. And exactly such a car is currently for sale on eBay. To be precise, the vehicle offered there is a 525i from 1989 in the color grey. Particularly attractive: the coveted H-certificate is already available. The price tag is 7900 euros.

Classically beautiful and worth preserving for that reason alone: This BMW cockpit does not need a lot of flashing stuff.
This BMW is a garage car with a full service history
The seller writes that the car is in very good condition for its age. According to this, the BMW was always parked in a garage and therefore has almost no rust. Engine and transmission work perfectly. There is a checkbook that has been almost completely filled out. The seller has owned the BMW for 21 years. Before that, his father bought it from BMW as a year-old car.

At first glance, the interior of the BMW looks very neat and well-groomed. But there must be an on-site check.
In December 2021 there was a fresh TÜV and an H-certificate. The logo on the bonnet, the side air intakes, the rims, the spoiler and the lettering on the boot lid are a matter of taste. Four original rims and a Blaupunkt cassette radio are available and included in the price. According to the information, the car is currently not registered.

There are small modifications to the car, see the logo. The next owner has to decide if they like it.
You should check this before buying the BMW 5 Series E34
Anyone who is enthusiastic about the advertised BMW should, as with any used motor vehicle, take a close look before buying it. It starts with the standards: How many previous owners have there been? Is there a stamped checkbook? Do workshop invoices bear witness to the care given to the car? Is the seller’s information correct? What does the car look like up close?
Classic car drivers can use that
Then comes the test drive. You should pay particular attention to noises from the direction of the axes. The ball heads and the rubber bushings on the front axle of an E34 can buckle. This is not a drama and can be fixed by a good screwdriver, but it means extra effort, which should be reflected in the price negotiation.
A relatively prominent E34 vulnerability does not affect the car on offer. The automatic transmissions are not considered exceptionally stable. But here is a manual gearbox on board. If you want to be on the safe side, check the mileage in the checkbook or with the help of comparable sources. The E34’s odometer works electronically and can theoretically be manipulated.
