BMW XM – the most powerful production model from the performance brand

The youngest member of the M family definitely has many innovations and details and functions that have never been seen before in the BMW performance segment.
Optics: Modern meets history
In terms of design, BMW relies on a few elements and allusions to the legendary M1. For example, the XM comes with a gold accent band on the side – based on the black side bar of the M1. Also the two engraved BMW logos at the rear of the electrified SUV look familiar.

Narrow lights, fat grill and standard 21-inch and optionally up to 23-inch rims.
The golden accents are repeated on the front of the XM: the double kidney is edged in gold and features surrounding contour lighting. There are also eye-catching air intakes on the front.
Interior: individual, luxurious and comfortable
Inside, everything is at its finest. And in many ways: The XM will come in four equipment lines. There are also some extravagant details inside. For example the roof liner, which is designed in a three-dimensional prismatic optics and is illuminated with the help of 100 LED units.

M multifunction seats, knee pads, a model-specific M leather steering wheel, curved display and more are part of the standard equipment.
In addition, the XM has the largest number of different driver assistance systems that has ever existed in an M series vehicle. These include evasive assistance, an attention assistant, active cruise control and Parking Assistant Plus, which includes a panoramic view at the rear and front and a 3D view.
Engine: electrified and powerful
In addition to all the luxury in the interior, the question still remains: what can the engine, chassis and co do? The XM drives with a newly developed 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine with TwinTurbo technology. And of course – as a PHEV – with the support of an electric motor. The BMW has a system output of 480 kW (653 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. The performance model also comes with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The XM is said to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a leisurely 4.3 seconds.

For the first time in a BMW M model: stacked, hexagonal twin tailpipes with electrically controlled, continuously variable flaps.
Chassis: Adjustment at the push of a button
With a simple push of a button, you can access the configuration of the drive, chassis, steering, braking system and xDrive on the BMW XM – and also adjust the intensity of braking energy recuperation.

The XM is the first M model to come standard with integral active steering. Besides, that is SUV equipped with an M sports brake system, a double wishbone front axle, a five-link rear axle and electronically controlled shock absorbers.
