The Dutch Indoor Athletics Championships are the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the European Indoor Championships from 5 to 7 March in Torun, Poland. The title fight in the Omnisport of Apeldoorn is also one of the few athletics events that will take place. Due to the corona pandemic, fewer participants are admitted and no public is welcome.
The eye-catcher is Femke Bol, who has already broken the Dutch record in the 400 meters three times this winter and is in third place of this year’s world ranking with a time of 50.66. Joris van Gool is the favorite for the 60 meter sprint and Nadine Visser is going for the title in the 60 meter hurdles. Special attention is paid to the 800 meters for men. At that distance, a record number of seven athletes have run under the limit for the European Championship, but only three are allowed to go to Torun. The decision falls on the NK.
Nearly thirty athletes have already qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Torun.
