“Breath of the Wild 2” for Switch postponed – Nintendo reveals new start date

Nintendo has delayed the launch of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Bad news for all Switch owners and video game fans: Nintendo has officially delayed the release of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The second part was originally supposed to be released later this year. In a video message to fans, however, the game’s producer, Eiji Aonuma, announced that players will have to wait a little longer.

According to Aonuma, the game was originally planned for release in 2022. Now it has been decided to give the game a little more development time. “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2” should therefore not be released until spring 2023. Aonuma then offers an apology including a bow, followed by a few game scenes. The game should offer a very special experience, including new game elements.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best games of all time

The game is ranked 14th on Metacritics with an average rating of 97 percent. “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” from 1998 has been the undisputed number one for decades with 99 percent.

Nintendo had already announced work on the successor to “Breath of the Wild” in a teaser video in 2019.

In 2021, Nintendo then presented a trailer at E3 that talked about a release in 2022:
