British politician is said to have raped woman

The MP was temporarily arrested and released on bail.

A British MP and former Secretary of State has been suspected of rape and has been temporarily arrested, media reports. A former member of parliament has reported the man.

The politician has forced the young woman to have sex several times, the Sunday Times reported. She was so traumatized that she had to go to the hospital. The deeds are said to have taken place during a relationship between the two.

According to the police, the incidents took place between July 2019 and January 2020. Scotland Yard only spoke – without giving a name – of a “man in his fifties” who was released on bail. He had to report back in mid-August. The crimes are said to have taken place in three locations in London, including Westminster. The parliament is located there.

The ruling conservative party said it takes the allegations very seriously. She didn’t want to comment further on the allegations. British Housing Minister Robert Jenrick said in a Times Radio interview Sunday that Parliament must be a safe place for women. “There have clearly been some very difficult allegations and cases in recent years.”

The BBC cited reports that Tories faction leader Mark Spencer knew about the allegations and spoke to the suspect about them. However, he did not know the full extent of the accusations.
