If your goals for 2020 include growing your company, staying more organized, and getting on well with all tasks, then you should read on.

You may be doing the wrong thing. At the beginning of the year, it can always be very tempting to cling to the shiny new organizers, project management tools, and to-do list templates. It can help keep focus and stay on track. However, there is a far simpler and more powerful tool you can use – and if you’re the business owner of a growing business, you should use it.

There is research showing that creating a to-do list can help reduce anxiety and bring order to otherwise chaotic thoughts. However, it is often exactly the opposite of productive when, as an entrepreneur, you just write different tasks on a piece of paper.

The biggest challenge for entrepreneurs is being able to switch between the priorities of day-to-day business – client work, content creation, administrative tasks, correspondence – and strategic forward planning – long-term growth, sales strategy.

If you visualize all the tasks to be done, it gives entrepreneurs, who often have to switch back and forth between work in and on the company, the feeling that more work is to be done and less work is being done. This in turn can have a negative effect on motivation and stamina.
