The prices of graphics cards have fallen sharply since the beginning of the year, so that after more than two years there are actually various GPUs to buy again at the RRP and sometimes even below. We have listed the models for you here.
Graphics card comparison 2022: GeForce RTX and Radeon RX GPUs in the test – with ranking
Unrivaled value: AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT (RRP: 209 euros)
We didn’t leave a good hair on the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT in our test report. The combination of only 4 GB of video memory, the 64-bit memory bus and the PCIe 4.0 interface cut to four lanes means that the GPU often performs worse than its direct predecessor. However, if you don’t overdo it with the graphics settings, especially the texture settings, with the RX 6500 XT you get a GPU with which you can also play current games with medium to high settings and at a currently unrivaled price:
Price-performance tip: AMD Radeon RX 6600 (RRP: 339 euros)
The AMD Radeon RX 6600 (to the test report) offers twice the performance of the RX 6500 XT on average and thus enough power to be able to play all current AAA titles smoothly with the highest settings in Full HD. If ray tracing is activated, however, you then have to reduce the settings a bit. Compared to the competition, the RX 6600 is just behind the RTX 3060, which currently costs significantly more. From our point of view, the RX 6600 is currently the GPU with the best price-performance ratio:
Gaming in UHD: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (RRP: 999 euros)
The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (to the test report) is currently one of the fastest GPUs on the market, with which you can play most games with the highest settings even in UHD resolution. With ray tracing enabled, you’re more likely to play in QHD resolution:
Currently fastest gaming GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT (RRP: 1239 euros)
The Radeon RX 6950 XT is currently AMD’s fastest gaming GPU, although it only differs from the RX 6900 XT in details. This relies on faster GDDR6 video memory and higher chip clock rates, but this comes at the cost of higher power consumption. From a performance perspective, you can expect around seven percent more power, which places the RX 6950 XT between the RTX 3080 Ti and the RTX 3090.
Best GPU for gaming & more: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti (RRP: 2249 euros)
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is the current non plus ultra for gamers and creative people. However, Nvidia is handsomely rewarded for the last percentage points of performance. The GPU performs only ten to twelve percent better than the RTX 3080 Ti in the gaming tests, but costs almost twice as much according to the RRP. Creative users benefit above all from the 24 GB of video memory, although the RTX 3090 is also equipped with the same amount of VRAM and is significantly cheaper to buy.
