Buying advice 2022: The best tablets

The light and easy-to-use mobile devices have established themselves again as an alternative to the notebook – not only for surfing or video playback, but also for office use. How to find the ideal tablet.
For tablets, you can choose from devices with Android, iPadOS and Windows. The iPads offer the largest range of apps and are most future-proof because Apple provides them with updates for six to seven years. The greater choice of devices and lower prices speak for Android tablets.
A current tablet should offer at least 32 GB of internal memory, 3 GB of RAM and a display with full HD resolution: Beginners should use it
Amazon Fire HD 10
for around 85 euros, but it runs with an Android version from Amazon and therefore offers a smaller selection of apps.
Better equipment and a larger display with higher resolution offer that
Samsung Galaxy Tab A7
and the
Lenovo Tab P11
, which are available with 64 GB of storage from around 250 euros or for around 60 euros more as an LTE variant. The cheapest current
Apple iPad
(9th generation) with 64 GB is significantly more expensive at around 380 euros. The faster and bigger, but lighter
Apple iPad Air
(4th generation) are available from 560 euros.
Note the future update supply for the tablet
The higher quality Samsung tablets from the model range
S6
and
S7
recommend themselves not only because of their Amoled screen and S-Pen stylus, but also because they are guaranteed to get future versions of Android. The prices for the
S6 Lite
start from around 300 euros for the current one
Galaxy Tab S7
from around 450 euros and for the high-end model
S7 +
at 830 euros.

Surface Go 3
(from 400 euros) to
Surface Pro 8
with Tiger Lake CPU (from around 1100 euros). It is optimally equipped for business use

A suitable keyboard turns the tablet into a notebook alternative: Mostly, however, it is not included in the scope of delivery – neither is the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard for the Surface tablets from Microsoft.
