Home office and homeschooling make you think about a new printer. How about a model with ink tanks instead of cartridges? The moment is right for this, because even the discounter has them on offer.
The past few months have shown how important a high-performance printer is. That is why you are considering replacing your home device with a more modern solution. A device with a tank system is recommended so that you do not get caught up in excessive follow-up costs for ink and toner.
In the case of toner solutions, the choice is currently still very limited. After all, with the Neverstop series, HP offers laser printers and multifunction devices with a tank system. Here, however, you have to do without color at the moment, but the manufacturer delivers each device with a generous black toner supply for 5000 pages. So you get a page price well under a cent right from the start.
In view of this, the comparatively high entry price of around 270 euros (RRP) for the printer model is put into perspective
HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw
and around 302 euros (RRP) for the cheapest combination device with the
HP Neverstop 1201n
. In contrast to this, classic laser devices are limited to low fillings in the scope of delivery, which are only intended to ensure reliable start-up and usually have to be quickly replaced by expensive standard or XL cartridges.

Now new: tank printer at the discounter
Even the discounters now have printers and multifunctional devices with ink tanks in their range. This benefits you because the purchase prices fall. At the time of research there is about the
HP Smart Tank Plus 559
at the bargain price of 193 euros on the Lidl website. Here you have to do without a fax function and an automatic document feeder, but in many cases this should not be an obstacle.
It is also worth taking a look at the brochures of electronics stores: This is how you can find the
Epson Ecotank L3110
for just under 190 euros
. The multifunctional device is one of the entry-level models for tank pressure and lacks some equipment features such as a WLAN interface. The product name, which is atypical for Epson, has a reason: The series is actually intended for the Eastern European market, but is now being launched in this country to compensate for delivery bottlenecks. Even without WiFi, you can access the device and benefit from the low cost of the page. Because if you connect the device to the router directly via USB, you can make it available to all users in the home network. However, you are still unable to use mobile printing functions such as Apple Airprint. You can find more ink tank printer offers in the table.

Cheap printers only with an ink subscription
If you don’t want to invest so much money in a new printer, then you should use a device with an ink subscription to get the cheapest possible original cartridges. HP’s Instant Ink program now applies to almost all models. Epson has now launched a comparable concept with Ready Print, which only includes certain models. Subscriptions start at 1.99 euros for 30 pages per month and, in the case of the Ecotank series, even include a rentable device.
