Cadillac Lyriq: Does Cadillac now compete with Tesla and Co?

Dynamically drawn: The Lyriq is visually appealing, but the sloping roof line costs headroom in the rear.
The space is not huge
Inside the five-meter-long crossover, things are classy and emphatically American. Front and rear, the occupants sit extremely comfortably on the moderately contoured leather armchairs, but in row two the sloping roof line restricts the headroom somewhat. With a wheelbase of 3.10 meters, the space is not huge, but the trunk holds a decent 790 to 1720 liters.
For the basic price of around 60,000 euros, there is solid standard equipment and an electric motor on the rear axle that delivers 340 hp (250 kW) and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. Of course, the American, which weighs more than 2.5 tons, does not outperform its competitors, but it is easily enough for rapid progress.

Cruising instead of racing: The Lyriq prefers the sovereign, casual gait. Breathtaking acceleration is not his thing.
The Lyriq is relaxed when driving
At the wheel, the Cadillac Lyriq presents itself as a relaxed cruiser. No brutal boost that presses you into your seat, no wild leaps in numbers on the digital display, but sovereign and casual propulsion up to 180 km/h Vmax. The suspension is very comfortable in both driving modes, and even transverse joints don’t unnerve the car. The steering could be more direct and give more feedback, especially in sport mode. In the case of fast-moving passages, there is no direct connection to the road, here the Lyriq sways and nods significantly more than some European competitors.

The battery pack of the Cadillac Lyriq is said to have a range of up to 500 kilometers – assuming an appropriate driving style.
Up to 500 kilometers should be in it
With its 100 kWh battery pack, the electric Cadillac can travel up to 500 kilometers. Recuperation, which can be adjusted in terms of intensity, and oversized fuel consumption displays in the head-up display help to drive as economically as possible. If the electricity storage is empty, it can be charged with up to 190 kilowatts at a fast charging station or 19.2 kW at the home wall box. In the all-wheel drive version, this should be reduced to less than twelve kilowatts.

The Lyriq, which is solidly equipped at the base, is only available in North America for the time being. It costs the equivalent of around 60,000 euros.
First, the lyric is America-exclusive
Initially, the Lyriq will only be available on the North American market, but there can be little doubt that Cadillac will soon also be offering the electric hopefuls in Asia and Europe, where the all-wheel drive vehicle with 500 hp would probably have better chances. However, a market launch outside the USA is unlikely to take place until 2024 at the earliest; for 2023 the production capacities are already fully exhausted.
