The medieval buildings were mostly inhabited by noble or wealthy families and had to be able to be defended; and thus often equipped with a drawbridge, towers and moat. Which parts do you think should definitely not be missing?
Perhaps you are a fan of Loevestein Castle (1357) in Poederoijen (GD), with its moat and defensive wall. For a while it served as a state prison, now it is a national museum. The Muiderslot (1280) in Muiden, near Amsterdam, also has a beautiful canal and is located near fortifications.

Or do you prefer Castle Heeswijk (1156) in Heeswijk-Dinther (NB)? Like most castles, a popular wedding location. Are there any readers who got married in a castle?
Incidentally, castles do not always date from the Middle Ages. For example, the gigantic De Haar Castle in Haarzuilens (UT) was built from 1892 on the ruins of the old castle.
