Cosmetics, but also food, contain more and more additives. A look at the list of ingredients hardly provides any information, you almost need a degree in chemistry and nutritional science to understand them – or the Codecheck app on your smartphone.
Check products for ingredients via app
With the code check you can see at a glance whether the product is really vegan, for example, or whether the shower gel contains microplastics. The analysis is very quick, you just have to scan the EAN code and you will see the product and its ingredients displayed on your smartphone. The only technical requirement for the free version is an existing internet connection.
After scanning the EAN code, Codecheck not only shows you the ingredients of the product, but also provides a nutritional traffic light and an evaluation of the product.
Once Codecheck has found the product in its database, you can see the ingredients in the overview and whether it contains palm oil or other critical components, for example. The “Nutritional traffic light” section tells you which content is red, yellow or green. Under “Lifestyle & Nutrition” you can find out whether it contains gluten or lactose and whether it is a vegan or vegetarian product. The many advertisements are a little annoying. These can only be switched off using the Pro version, which, however, costs just under 15 euros as an annual subscription.
