In the future, even legendary models will probably be offered purely electrically. Ford did it with that mustang and put the Mach-E connector version alongside the pony car. And the Corvette will probably not be able to avoid electrification in the future either.
The Corvette is currently in its eighth generation C8 at the dealers. In addition to the upcoming Z06, hybrid variants are also to follow in 2023. In the coming generation C9 should be the sports car classic from the USA, like the one before Mustang Mach-Ebut then rely on a fully electric drive train.
Up to 200 kWh battery and 400 volt technology
As the US magazine Muscle Cars And Trucks reports, the electric Vette could use GM’s variable Ultium electric platform, which also features models such as the Hummer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. The battery capacity should be between 50 kWh and 200 kWh, including 400 volt technology and 200 kW fast charging technology.
As a sporty sedan, the main opponents are likely to be the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT and Tesla mean. The new generation could be presented in 2025, initially there will be a sedan. An SUV variant will also be added later.
