With the Chromecast with Google TV (HD), Google has presented a significantly cheaper streaming stick than the Chromecast with 4K that has been available for some time.

Google introduced the Chromecast with Google TV (HD). It is a cheaper alternative to
Chromecast with Google TV (4K)
and offers the same range of functions, but with a significantly lower resolution.
Furnishing
The new TV streaming device only offers a resolution of up to 1080p in HDR and comes with a remote control. There is no need to switch between apps to select a program, because Google TV shows films and series from your various apps and subscriptions together and arranges them for you. Among others, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, RTL+, DAZN, Joyn, ARD, ZDF and Prime Video are supported. The Chromecast with Google TV (HD) also supports gaming via Stadia.
Multiple people can use the Chromecast with Google TV (HD), each with their own profile. Parents can stay in control of what their kids watch with child profiles and parental controls.
Press the Google Assistant button to start voice recognition and then search for content. If you have Nest speakers, the new Chromecast lets you group them together and hear the music in every room. According to Google, this works with many popular subscription services and audio apps, including YouTube Music and Spotify. Chromecast with Google TV (HD) can also play a slideshow of your photos on the connected TV.

Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is plugged into a power outlet and connected to the TV with its HDMI port. It also needs to be connected to the WiFi network. As an alternative to WLAN, connection to the LAN port of the router is also possible using an additional adapter.

Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is now available from retailers for EUR 39.99 (price for Germany and Austria; Switzerland: CHF 39.99). For comparison: Chromecast with Google TV (4K) costs 69.99 euros.
