Will Conor McGregor return to the octagon for another fight in the UFC? It is not yet official, but he said on Twitter that he accepted a challenge from Khamzat Chimaev, one of the rising stars in the UFC.
Conor McGregor has gradually become known for his comebacks as well as for his knockouts. The Irish cage fighter announced his third farewell to mixed martial arts (MMA) in early June. Many followers were already skeptical at the time because McGregor had only just returned and had convincingly won his first match against veteran American Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
They may also be right soon, because on Twitter the Irishman seems to be alluding to a new camp in the UFC. The reason for this is a tweet from Khamzat Chimaev. That 26 year old Swede is currently the talk of the town after recently winning two games in two different weight classes on his Fight Island debut in just eleven days, an unprecedented feat.
It should come as no surprise that Chimaev is overflowing with confidence and it shows. On Twitter, he addressed Dana White, the UFC boss: “I’m getting bored, please give me Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal or Conor McGregor the same night. I can destroy all these guys… I’m not cocky, I’m just confident. I understand if they don’t want to fight me ”.
Is the camp coming?
Unsurprisingly, Conor McGregor’s response was not long in coming. Barely half an hour later, he tweeted “I accept!“. More explanation was not needed to know exactly what he was talking about. Shortly thereafter, another response came from Chimaev. He responded with “beg me.” An hour later another Swede tweeted: “Call your uncle Dana White. I will be ready. ”.
Meanwhile, UFC boss Dana White has also responded to the rumors. He told TMZ Sports that there are currently no official talks about a fight between the ruffs. White therefore estimates the chance that they will effectively fight each other, although he does not completely rule it out. “Probably not, but who knows ?!” he said of a camp between McGregor and Chimaev.
