The official Kodi remote app, which is available for Android and iOS, is ideal for convenient operation of your Kodi media server.
Kodi is one of the most famous media players with extensive platform support and a flexible add-on concept. In the current version 19, some changes are noticeable: Kodi now also supports AV1 compression, and subtitles can be adjusted. But the surface when playing music has also been noticeably revised, which is intended to simplify operation. There are also different displays for the meta data available and the playlist views have been adapted. There is a new “In Progress” view, and the controls and navigation elements have also been redesigned. The official Kodi remote app, which is available for Android and iOS, is also suitable for particularly convenient operation of your Kodi media server.
To set up the Kodi app, you need the IP address of the Kodi device as well as user and password.
In order for it to work, you have to save a few parameters both in Kodi and in the app. To do this, go to Kodi in the settings under “Services / Control” and activate the item “Allow control via http” and “Allow remote control by applications from other computers”. For security, you can also activate authentication and save a user and password. For the app you need the IP address of the device on which Kodi is running. You can determine this directly via “Settings / System information”. Enter the data in the Kodi app and establish the connection. You can now control your Kodi installation remotely from the comfort of your sofa.
