Courteney Cox will appear in fifth ‘Scream’ movie

There is a fifth Scream-film coming up. Courteney Cox, better known as Monica from Friends, will once again take on the role of news reporter Gale Weathers. That reports the American news website Deadline.

The FriendsStar isn’t alone in returning for Scream’s reboot. David Arquette, Cox’s ex, is also back as the lame agent Dewey Riley. It also looks like lead actress Neve Campbell will make a comeback.

The fifth ScreamThe film will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett in the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Worldwide phenomenon

All Screammovies are set in the town of Woodsboro where a stalker killer with a scary mask is active. He is targeting Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). Reporter Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) wants to expose the murderer at all costs and goes very far for that. The first three Screamfilms released between 1996 and 2000, the fourth film was released in 2011. Courteney Cox appeared as Gale Weathers in every film.

The series brought about a worldwide phenomenon, namely children who on Halloween and Carnival with a Screammasks scared their friends. All parts that have appeared so far have been directed by Wes Craven. He passed away in 2015. The films raised more than 510 million euros worldwide.
