The Crew Dragon has arrived safely at the International Space Station. On board SpaceX’s space capsule were two NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken. The Crew Dragon arrived a few minutes before the scheduled arrival time. This makes the first space flight of a commercial company a success.

Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken will remain on the space station for 110 days to prepare it for more manned space missions by the Americans.

9 years depending on the Russians

The private company SpaceX provided the first manned US space flight since 2011, when the Space Shuttle program came to an end. American astronauts depended on Russia for 9 years for launches.

SpaceX boss Elon Musk worked towards this moment for 18 years. He made it his life’s purpose to send humanity into space and often dreams aloud of the colonization of Mars.
