Cupra, Seat and VW: Prices rise again

At the beginning of 2022, Seat and Cupra were already increasing the prices of many models. Prices are set to rise again on May 20, 2022 – and this time, according to carwow.de, the increase will apply to all models. In addition, prices will now increase by three percent, previously it was only two percent.

VW is also raising prices. Also in May, many models of all drive types will increase by at least three percent, some even by up to five percent.
Using the example of the Cupra Formentor, which currently costs 33,650 euros as a basic petrol engine with 150 hp and six-speed manual transmission, a price increase of three percent would mean a future price of 34,660 euros.
The chip crisis is still causing problems for the automotive market
The main reason for the renewed increase in prices – across the entire automotive market – is the ongoing chip crisis. The crisis is exacerbated by Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and the ongoing corona pandemic.
Deliveries from producers in Ukraine are lacking, and due to strict lockdowns in China, the required car parts are not getting out of the factory. This mainly includes cable harnesses. It is not yet clear when the situation can be expected to ease.
If you are about to buy a Cupra, Seat or VW, you have to hurry. Cupra and Seat prices are expected to increase on May 20, 2022, and VW prices will also increase in May.
