Dacia Duster Facelift (2021): test, SUV, engine, price

More being than appearance: the improved Duster knows how to convince

Facelift for the Duster: Dacia’s SUV price breaker has especially spruced up the inside. AUTO BILD drives the new 150 hp top petrol engine with automatic.

Vthe Grim II in 2017, now the facelift is coming. Although you can hardly see it from the side, at least. The easiest way to recognize it is by looking at the Y graphic the rear lights. The Y motif runs through the entire car, and is now also found on the front lights LED technology for low beam and indicators. (Important tips for buying a new car on the Internet)

There is a surcharge for the most powerful Duster

More expensive: The most powerful Duster now costs 1,300 euros more than before the facelift program.

The main innovation is the top version TCe 150 with Six-speed dual clutch transmission – before there was only the diesel with automatic. Unfortunately, unlike the diesel, the automatic petrol engine only comes with it Front wheel drive. If you want the 4×4, which is quite powerful with a trailer load of 1500 kilograms, you have to resort to the manually switched TCe 150. Let’s go for a lap in the new topGrim: With 20,190 euros it is 1300 euros above its predecessor, but it offers 20 hp more and always comes in prestige equipment with a new 8-inch navigation system (one inch more), rear camera, blind spot warning, driver’s seat with lumbar support, darkened rear windows and automatic air conditioning.

The top engine is clearly improved

Better: The weakness of the older Dacia petrol engine has been abandoned by the 1.3 – but it is not lively.

Compared to our 2018 endurance test duster, six things are improved: 1. The Seats are tighter and better, especially in the Prestige with lumbar support. The wider, lengthways sliding armrest also provides more comfort. 2. The buttons for cruise control / limiter are no longer between the seats (!), But in the steering wheel, ie in the driver’s field of vision. 3. The 1.3 liter turbo gasoline engine Still hardly anyone would call it sparkling, but the lack of torque of older Duster petrol engines is a thing of the past. 4. Although only the steering resistances above 70 km / h were increased on the electric steering, it appears subjectively less spongy. It is now ideal for this more comfort-oriented type of car. 5. The unwilling hot start behavior of old Duster petrol engines is a thing of the past, the new one always starts. 6. The Rear view camera now shows a clear picture, so far it was rather milky. And as a last plus point: The double coupler does not shift smoothly, but less roughness than, for example, our long-term Captur. (Calculate maintenance costs? To the car insurance comparison)
