‘Dash & Lily’ is now on Netflix: protagonists got to know each other better through a notebook

Good news for fans of book adaptations, because Dash & Lily can be found in full on Netflix since today. The series is based on the book series Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares from Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, and provides eight episodes of Christmas cheer.

In the book series and the Netflix series, Dash and Lily get to know each other through a notebook. And so have actors Austin Abrams and Midori Francis. The two had to succeed in making their chemistry clear through voice-overs, because they are (almost) not seen together on the screen.

“It clicked immediately”

“We shared a notebook in which we shared personal things about ourselves,” Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. “It clicked immediately”, Francis added. “You could immediately see that we both wanted to commit ourselves seriously to the series.”

“We often talked late at night. And it was very easy to feel like he was with me. We played a lot of scenes alone, but we had the voice-over in mind, so it’s very easy to imagine that that person is really with you. ”

New York in full Christmas regalia

“We have Dash & Lily shot on location in the fall and winter of 2019 ″, creator Joe Tracz (A Series Of Unfortunate Events). “We recorded so many of my favorite spots, with no idea what the city would look like now.”

“I miss that version of New York. But I am so grateful that I can now share this story with the world. The film is a romantic comedy that (like Lily) is extremely hopeful. While he (like Dash) realizes that it is not always easy to believe. ”

“Like Lily, I have always believed in love and the power of love stories that can inspire and lift you. I hope this season Dash & Lily can do that for you. So, please, heat up some chocolate milk, get your coziest sweater out of the closet, and come to New York for the holidays… if only in your dreams. ”
