De Graafschap: violence against journalists does not suit this club

De Graafschap is totally dissatisfied with the behavior of the fans at the stadium after the match against Young Ajax. On their return from Amsterdam, the players were awaited, who after a draw were not yet able to enforce promotion to the Eredivisie. A number of journalists were attacked by fans.

“Unfortunately, I do not yet have a good idea of what exactly happened there,” said Managing Director Hans Martijn Ostendorp. “But this does not suit De Graafschap. You keep your hands off each other. We absolutely disapprove of violence against journalists. They must be given the space to do their work.”

Ostendorp had also gone to the stadium himself on Friday evening. “I asked the fans there to keep their distance from the group of players. They did that well. I did see some skirmishes then, but that seemed to be resolved well by stewards. I only heard about the involvement of journalists this morning. I am trying to find out what exactly happened and I am also in contact with the police. “
