Deutsche Post: Registered gets these important changes

These innovations are available for Swiss Post customers who want to send important letters by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt.

Deutsche Post is changing registered mail with return receipt. The previous pink return receipt form will be replaced on October 1, 2022 by an automatically generated letter with a printed image of the shipment and a digitized recipient signature. From this point on, anyone who uses registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt for mail such as cancellations, reminders, payment requests or objections only has to label their mail with a registered mail acknowledgment of receipt label and write their sender address on the front of the mail. The somewhat more time-consuming process of filling out and sticking on the pink return receipt form is no longer necessary, as Swiss Post emphasizes.

Warning: registered mail is not always legally secure

After the delivery of the registered letter, the sender of the registered letter automatically receives a letter in DIN A4 format, which, in addition to the digitized signature of the recipient, also shows a picture of the letter delivered and a QR code. Customers can also download this new return receipt and save it digitally via shipment tracking or by scanning the QR code.

The price of registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt remains unchanged: letter postage plus 4.85 euros.

Important: the changes only apply to national registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt. When it comes to registered mail with return receipt abroad, everything stays the same, since the international postal companies only know the pink return receipt and this is an integral part of the worldwide postal network, as Deutsche Post explains.
