Activision Blizzard has confirmed that the latest Diablo offshoot “Diablo Immortal” will be released on June 2, 2022. The big surprise: Diablo Immortal should also appear for the PC, but initially as an open beta. The developers announced this in a video.
At Blizzcon 2018, where fans were waiting for the long-awaited Diablo 4, the developers “only” announced the mobile offshoot Diablo Immortal – this should appear exclusively for iOS and Android. At the time, Diablo fans were furious because the developers ruled out a PC spin-off. You can read the then news article about the announcement of Diablo Immortal here:
Blizzard is probably still in the bones of the shitstorm of the fans
Probably also to avoid a new shit storm, Activision Blizzard decided to publish an offshoot for the PC as well. The developers have also confirmed cross-play and cross-progression for the Diablo offshoot. So you’ll be able to play cross-platform with friends and access your save on all platforms. You should also be able to play the Free 2 Play offshoot on the PC with either a mouse and keyboard or a controller.
It is doubtful whether Diablo fans will be too impressed by the PC version. In the meantime, the Diablo 2 remake “Resurrected” for consoles and PCs was released in September 2021 and soon, i.e. this year or 2023, the long-awaited Diablo 4 should finally be released.
