Microsoft plans to make Discord Voice Chat available on its Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles soon. The Redmond company is taking the first step today in the Xbox Insider program. Discord Voice Chat is now available via the test channel for all participating Xbox owners.
Discord voice chat with voice channels and group calls
With Discord Voice Chat, Xbox owners can connect with their friends and communities on Discord and have conversations directly through voice channels and group calls on the console. The voice chat not only works in the dashboard, but also directly while playing. In multiplayer titles, players no longer have to use the in-game voice chat, but can use the Discord Voice Chat. The game shows who is currently in the conversation. Xbox owners can turn on their microphone here and easily switch between Discord Voice and Xbox Game Chat.
And that’s how it works:
-
Open the guide by pressing the Xbox button
-
Select “Parties & Chats”
-
Navigate to “Try Discord Voice on Xbox”
-
Scan the displayed QR code
-
Establish a connection between your Discord account and your Xbox
New option in Discord app
If the console is linked to the Discord account, users can select the Discord channel they want to talk to as usual. A new option to join on Xbox has also been added to the Discord app. For phone voice chat to work, users still need the Xbox app to transfer voice chat from their Discord account to the console.
