Disney +: News on Star Content

Disney + receives a lot of new content through “Star”

Disney + will integrate new content from February 23, 2021 under the “Star” brand. Now there is more information about the upcoming films and series.

We had already reported that Disney had put a German info page on Star and the films and series. A trailer also gave an outlook on the content. But it is already clear that there will be differences depending on the country. This is because Disney has ongoing licensing agreements with partners in different states. These can be competing streaming providers or television broadcasters.

So we should wait and see what we will actually find at Star in Germany from February 23, 2021. The only thing that is clear is that Star will be available to all Disney + subscribers and can also be blocked using a new child lock with a PIN. It includes star content from Disney TV, ABC, FX and 20th Century Studios. Honestly, you have to admit that Disney has so far mainly shown old camels that have been available for years through various other streaming providers and have been endlessly running up and down on TV.

Disney UK and Disney Spain have rushed ahead and have named many titles you will see on Disney + via Star. Many of them have already been confirmed for Germany in the video above – for example “Die Hard”, “How I Met Your Mother” and “Lost”. Others, like “The X-Files”, still have a question mark for our latitudes.

Star: An added value for the subscription?

Disney + will be significantly more expensive from March 2021: The price will rise to 89.99 euros per year or 8.99 euros per month. Does Star represent sufficient added value for you to still maintain the subscription? The following titles have already been confirmed as part of Star for Spain and Great Britain:

  • Die Hard
  • 24
  • Lost
  • X-Files
  • Desperate Housewives
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Prison Break (UK only)
  • Atlanta (UK only)
  • Black-ish (UK only)
  • Sons of Anarchy (Spain only)
  • Grey’s Anatomy (Spain only)
  • Scandal (Spain only)
  • Alien (Spain only)

The following formats should also be added:

  • Modern family
  • Homeland
  • Americans
  • Snowfall
  • Borate
  • War of the Planet of the Apes
  • Pretty woman
  • Kingsman: The Golden Circle

As already indicated: Whether and when we can count on all titles in Germany is open. We also don’t know which of the films in 4K with HDR / Dolby Vision will stand at attention.
