The documentary sets up Drew Dixon, which occurred in the mid-1990s Simmons worked with his record label Def Jam Records. Although she initially thought she had won her dream job, her work became increasingly difficult due to sexually unacceptable behavior on the part of Simmons. Something Dixon dared not speak about, for fear of not being believed. Now that the #MeToo movement has started, she has told her story for the first time.
“I have been a victim for 22 years and I am ready to be a victim,” said Drew. Several women have now risen who accuse Simmons of sexual assault and even rape. Simmons denies any wrongdoing to his address. “I’ve really done things here and there that couldn’t get through, but I’ve never been hostile, let alone forced myself on people.”
The documentary would initially be co-produced by Oprah Winfrey, but it withdrew at the last minute. Winfrey believed “the film was not yet ready to be shown” when it premiered at Sundance.
