Does cooking with sweet potato work? (plus a recipe!) | Lifestyle

Yes, we could have tried the fries or the lasagna, or the pizza for all I care, but in lockdown everything is boring enough. So it becomes the waffles. No idea what it will be. But is it lunch, snack, or am I going to get it sold as dinner?

“Serve the waffles warm and add a salad, for example,” says Guillaume Marinette. I do not need more. Vegetables. Warm. Sounds like a main meal, right? Sweet potato is one of the favorites in our home. The reason why I wanted to try this book. I make a mash, mix in eggs, flour, butter, baking powder, milk and spices and stuff that mixture in my waffle iron. It is not difficult. The thick batter packs well and after a few minutes two firm, thick waffles emerge.

Yet nobody is really enthusiastic about this experiment. The waffles are heavy. And the sweet potato does not taste enough. We are left with the feeling that we are eating something that is not quite right. Yet that is no reason for me to abandon this book. I think an author who dares to continue his concept has something.

In addition to the extreme dishes – besides waffles including pancakes, brownies and applesauce (!), This book contains many simple and attractive sweet potato ideas that are likely to be more popular here.

Fries with camembert dip? I can not wait. Or maybe. Until the waffles are no longer heavy on the stomach.
