A new FIFA game is yet to come

But before it comes to the separation from FIFA, EA wants to deliver “the most comprehensive game of all time” under the name “EA SPORTS FIFA” for another year. We make sure that the next FIFA will be the best of all time, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions and players than any other FIFA title before.” This new and final FIFA game will be released in autumn 2022.

Hence the name change

Publisher Electronic Arts releases a new version of its football simulation “FIFA” for PC and consoles every year. EA has to pay the world football association FIFA a hefty brand premium for this. According to Spiegel Online, it was around 150 million US dollars a year. Four letter use only: FIFA. The company intends to save on these expenses in the future.

According to Spiegel Online, EA is not terminating the collaboration (only) because of the license fees. But FIFA also slowed down EA in the choice of cooperation partners. EA has always had to give preference to FIFA’s partners. This will end in July 2023.
