Around 7 p.m. SC Cambuur and De Graafschap will hear whether they will still be promoted to the premier league. The preliminary relief judge of the District Court of the Central Netherlands in Utrecht will then give judgment in summary proceedings that both clubs from the first division have filed against the KNVB
Both clubs were first and second in the Kitchen Champion Division when the professional football season ended due to the corona virus. Those places were entitled to promotion to the Premier League after the entire season. However, the KNVB does not want a premier league with 20 clubs next season, also because many mayors and chiefs are not in favor of it.
Cambuur, De Graafschap and the KNVB can still appeal to the court. Cambuur and De Graafschap can also try to get their point in an extraordinary members meeting of the KNVB, in which all professional clubs may decide on a desired promotion-relegation scheme.
The judge pronounces in an almost empty courtroom. The people who followed the summary proceedings in the court of Utrecht on Friday are again welcome.
