After the Fola and the Swift, two other big teams have chosen their new coach. The face of the BGL League cuvée 2020-2021 is gradually revealed.

A new chapter opens in the Forge du Sud. The quest for a new F91 Dudelange coach has come to an end. Without surprise, Carlos Fangueiro (43) will be at the helm of the team with 15 national titles on the occasion of the year of its 30th anniversary. The Portuguese, dismissed by the Union Titus Pétange on March 10, succeeds the Belgian Bertrand Crasson, ejected him in early May.

“Carlos (Fangueiro) is a very competent and dedicated coach who, as a former professional, maintains good relations with the players. It was important for us, “said President of the Romans, Romain Schumacher. The Belgian Mehdi El Alaoui (35, ex-Bertrix and Givry), who worked alongside Fangueiro in Pétange in 2019-2020 will officiate as an assistant, while Sergio Silva will be the goalkeepers’ coach and Jérôme Challe the physiotherapist .

I’m going to start my 20th season as a coach

On the side of the Iron Metropolis, the Youth chose a young, but not necessarily inexperienced, coach to relay the short-lived Noël Tosi (4 games at the head of the Bianconeri). AT 33 years old, German Marcus Weiss has already forged an experience at Grevenmacher (2015-2017) and at the Union Mertert-Wasserbilig (2017-2020), after many years of coaching with young people in his country. For the first time, he is getting to know the BGL Ligue. “I’m going to start my 20th season as a coach,” he said.

In Luxembourg, Weiss has already made a name for himself by winning the Cadet Cup and the Prince’s Cup at the head of young CSG players, and above all thanks to a sensational accession to the Luxembourg Cup semi-finals with the UMW. last year. At his side, the German can count on the Pole Dariusz Brzyski as assistant and Christoph Schesniak as goalkeeper trainer, two boys whom Weiss knew at Grevenmacher.

The shifted transfer period

Fangueiro at F91 Dudelange and Weiss at La Jeunesse are added to the already confirmed arrivals of Belgian Sébastien Grandjean at Fola, Jeff Strasser at Swift and Serge Wolf at Mondorf. The BGL Ligue 2020-2021 version is taking shape little by little, while the FLF decided on Monday to postpone the start of the international transfer period from May 25 to June 15, due to the coronavirus crisis.

This decision was taken following FIFA’s decision to allow national associations to adapt this period to the start of their 2020-2021 national season. In the event that national competitions resume later than initially planned – in early August – the end of the international summer period (scheduled for July 31, 2020) will be adjusted as necessary.
