Should competitor and arch-rival Real Madrid win at home from Sevilla on Sunday evening, the Royal is two points ahead of Barcelona. Moreover, the mutual result is in favor of the Madrid people. Atlético is currently in the lead in La Liga, with 77 points. Barcelona follows with 75, Real has 74, but a duel less.
Atletico Madrid was the better team in the first half hour and therefore had the best opportunities.
The good goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen had to take action frequently. There were five (!) Big chances for the ‘Rojiblancos’ to score in the first half, but it remained 0-0. Barcelona was close to 1-0 through whom other than Lionel Messi after a fantastic solo along five men, but an ultimate save by Jan Oblak brought relief.
Even after the break there were plenty of opportunities, Barcelona went for it more, but both Oblak and Ter Stegen seemed inaccessible this Saturday. Atlético was the hardest to scratch behind the ears, because the chances were certainly there to deal the final blow.
