A really exciting night for all Final Fantasy VII fans! After the revelations of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PlayStation 5 and the two mobile titles Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, there is now information about the much-anticipated continuation of the Final Fantasy VII Remake. In a conversation with the Japanese Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura revealed that Naoki Hamaguchi will be the sole director in the sequel. The two shared this role in the first part and were co-directors.

“I’m currently working on more projects than ever before,” Nomura told Famitsu. With the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the basic gameplay is now set and you can see where improvements are needed. That’s why Tetsuya Nomura now only takes on the role of Creative Director for everything that relates to Final Fantasy VII. So also Intergrade, the continuation of the remake and the two mobile titles. “My basic stake will not change significantly, however,” Nomura concluded. So how profound the upheavals are is not entirely clear. Naoki Hamaguchi definitely seems to have more responsibility now.
