Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier challenges you to battle royale in front of the church in sector 5

Today Square Enix presented a lot of details and insights in an extensive livestream Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. That went down a bit because at the end of the stream the much more noticed new and final trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was published.

In the live stream you can see the first real matches in Battle Royale for Final Fantasy VII. It takes a bit of getting used to, but the genre doesn’t stop at real classics either. We see again that First Soldier itself is a “classic” battle royale. You are thrown over an area – here it is the slums of Midgar – and fight your way through.

You will recognize many places and of course Square Enix relies on that too. Right at the beginning of the stream we see the church from the slums and a little later the Seventh Heaven. Otherwise classic battle royale fare: collect weapons and bonuses, eliminate opponents and hope that you will be the last on the shrinking map.

A bit of RPG is also included: You can choose from classes such as Warrior, Sorcerer or Monk and of course also use spells, because there is also materia. There is also a level-up mechanism. You can take on up to 74 other players. But there are also PvE elements with monsters. And you can ride chocobo.

If you like, you can try this out for yourself soon. A closed beta phase will take place from June 1st to June 7th, 2021. You can register via the Google Play Store until May 27, 2021. More details await you on the official website.
